If you despise healthy pizza, you will love the new Barstool brand
Whole Foods has way too many healthy pizzas in its frozen foods section.
The Daiya Meat Lover's Gluten-Free Pizza (will never say please). The Cappello's Keto Buffalo Ranch Pizza, grain-free with roasted cauliflower (no thank you). Sriracha Veggie Pizza, aka known as Srira-Cha-Cha! (not dancing that dance).
Since I'm not a fan of the whole wellness-sounding ingredients that go with those pizzas, it was time to leave WF for WM. I'm talking Walmart, where the frozen pizza is legit.
A legit newcomer is the Barstool Sports One Bite brand in more than 3,500 Walmart stores. The brand line is no surprise because Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy created an internet show, One Bite with Davey Pageviews, where he reviews pizza.
The Barstool pizza line is short: five cheese, pepperoni, three meat, and supreme. For now. If Barstool pizza becomes popular, I would imagine the choices will expand.
I bought my first Barstool pizza, the pepperoni, on Saturday at the Pass Christian Walmart.
The pepperoni was primo. It just might be the tastiest pep I've ever had.
The pizza had thin crust and its time in the oven made it crunchy. I prefer a softer crust, but this crunchy kind was very, very good.
The pizza needed more cheese and more red sauce, but the little bit of pep grease offset the cheese and sauce deficiencies. You don't want a whole lot of grease. That would not be healthy. If you want healthy, you know where you can go.
